Welcome

Welcome to the Olin College Yearbook. The OCY is a wholly student-run endeavor that sets out each year to produce the best yearbook possible. This year, we will be publishing a 112-page, full-color, hardcover yearbook. The Olin College Yearbook is distributed in the fall of the following academic year, and our publisher is Walsworth Publishing.

Volume 3: 2005-2006

The Yearbook is proud to announce that the Olin College Yearbook Volume 3 was distributed in September 2006. Most students received their book at the Yearbook Party on Friday, September 29, though some yearbooks were hand-delivered by yearbook staff members. Away Students will receive their yearbooks upon their return to campus next semester.

Camera "For Hire"

The OCY is continuing its program this year to provide the student body with high quality photography equipment. CORe recently allocated funds for the purpose, and the OCY just purchased a high-resolution Canon camera and accessories. Students may use the 8.0 MP digital SLR camera for their photographic endeavors. In return, the OCY only asks that students share all pictures that they take with the OCY for possible use in the yearbook. We encourage you to sign it out and start snapping!

Name the Yearbook!

When the Olin College Yearbook was only days old, the first yearbook staff sat down and attempted to name the book itself. This attempt was not very successful, as few on the yearbook staff at that time had ever been on a yearbook before. Confusion reigned as people had trouble understanding the difference between the name of the publication that is the yearbook and the yearbook's theme for the year. Time has passed though, and we are an older and wiser yearbook program. After poking our heads about the webspaces of other Boston area colleges, we've realized we're missing out on the named-yearbook party and that we'd like to remedy our namelessness. As a result, we'd like to announce the Naming the Yearbook Contest and invite you to help us name the Olin College Yearbook. Please email your suggestions to yearbook@olin.edu. Some local college yearbooks and their names follow.
